I'm often asked, " How did you decide to move to Madeline Island?".
My story goes something like this :
My husband & I first discovered Madeline Island while living in Minneapolis and when planning our honeymoon. With a combined family of 6 children, we were looking for a place to celebrate our new union that was accessible, affordable and a new discover for both of us to experience together. During our planning, we had no idea that such a place as Madeline Island even existed. Not until John found a Madeline Island Chamber of Commerce brochure in the back of a car he was fixing at his work place in Minneapolis. (Superior Ford.... Superior is the key word here) Once we realized in a short 4 hr. drive we could be on Lake Superior, biking, hiking, relaxing and planning for our new life together, it was only a matter of booking a room for the weekend.
We did what everyone does here when they explore Madeline Island ~ Rode the Madeline Island Ferry, rented mopeds at Motion to Go , hiked the trails of Big Bay State Park, walked the beaches of Big Bay Town Park, ate at the local restaurants, visited the Madeline Island Museum, unplugged and before we left.... considered if we might EVER be able to afford making Madeline Island a permanent camping destination for our family.
That's how the this chapter begins ~
